About me
Hello my dear,
when I turned fifteen my Belgian grandmother gave me my first vintage piece. It was her old camel wool coat that she hadn’t worn much. I directly fell in love with that classic beauty and it accompanied me to my first kiss, high-school and university exams. After all these years the wool fabric looks impeccable, even if I must replace the lining soon. Compared to fast fashion these a lot of vintages clothing was made for decades.
I love the designs from the early 19th century to the early seventies. Two fashion designer role models are for me Christian Dior and Hubert de Givenchy. Dior combined old techniques and he created something entirely new. Givenchy is the master of the simple elegance in dressmaking and Audrey Hepburn had been his muse.
The women behind Damoire
I was born in Belgium and began experimenting with a sewing machine when I was twelve years old. I wanted to become a fashion designer when I was a teenager and went to evening school to become a seamstress but couldn’t afford to move to study fashion design. So, I did a distance study in graphic design and followed that up with a degree in communication & multimedia design. Currently, I am working as a content manager.
My Motivation behind Damoire sews on YouTube
I always wanted to open up a YouTube channel but I postponded several years but in September I realized that I would regret it in 20 or 30 years if I haven’t tried it out. So I opened up my channeel to share my knowledge and inspire other people to start sewing vintage & historical fashion.
